Project Description:

The Marco Polo oil platform, is one of the premier and deepest tension-leg platforms (TLP) in the world, located in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) in 4,300 feet water depth.  During the engineering and construction phase back in the early 2000’s it was Anadarko’s first deep-water development project and at the time the deepest TLP in the world. OilPatch Technologies was contracted to provide riser connectors and tensioners for this first of a kind project. The NF2000 connection was the trusted choice when it comes to designing, installing and producing this marquee development. OPT’s scope for Marco Polo included:

 

  • Connectors for 6 inner and outer production riser strings
    • Inner NF2000 and outer ZF2000 riser
  • 6 Tensioner systems
    • Hydro pneumatic tensioner system
    • Tensioner load rings
  • Field services
    • Riser installation
    • Riser retrieval (done at the decommissioning stage of wells)
    • Installation of tensioner system
    • Maintenance services
      • Cylinder change out
      • Accumulator change out
      • Centralizer replacement
  • Inspection services
    • NDT quality inspection
    • Thread inspection

OPT supplied critical production riser components for the Modec TLP installed by Anadarko. OPT’s work scope included turnkey engineering, manufacture, FAT, and installation. Hardware was delivered to FMC on schedule.
